WHAT IS LINEN?

Linen is one of the oldest fabrics which was produced and valued by ancient Lithuanians. Flax has been grown on the territory of Lithuania almost 4000-5000 years ago, but the world history of flax is much older. Culture of flax was cultivated 9000 years ago in the Mediterranean region, Egypt, and Asia. In Lithuania, linen was used not only for practical purposes in the production of linen fibres, but also in ancient rituals as it was believed that flax fabric has symbolic powers.
