"Garofano" (carnation in English) is a legendary dinnerware pattern, a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and cultural heritage. This revered design with a rich history has become a significant part of Italian city Faenza's ceramic identity since the 1700s.
The Garofano pattern saw a renaissance in the 18th century at the Fergnani factory in Faenza, and later, under the visionary direction of Giò Ponti, an artist of extraordinary intuition. Mass production by other producers flourished into decals on porcelain plates, however our artisans have remained steadfast in their commitment to the traditional methods of majolica, keeping alive a craft that time almost forgot. Every detail painted by hand just like 150 years ago. We are beyond thrilled to offer these traditionally hand made plates with the iconic carnation, made with the pride and symbol of majolica production since 1874.
